The Blue Handbag winners, new potatoes and more returns

I've pulled three names out of the virtual hat, and signed hardback copies of The Blue Handbag will be winging their way to Suzana in Italy, Wayne in the US and Michael in... well, I don't know where Michael is, as I haven't heard back from him yet, but he had a very nice picture of an owl on his email. 113 entries altogether, not bad.

If you haven't already you can still enter my Goodreads competition to win three paperbacks here (UK or US) - or on Library Thing here (UK only). Or just cut out the middle man and pre-order from The Book Depository with free worldwide delivery.

New potatoes for dinner yesterday - the first from the ground - yum. It's been a glorious weekend, and I managed to plant out the chard, celeriac and leeks. I use a bulb planter to make my leek holes, and am thinking of writing 'leek hole-maker' on it and patenting it.

Finally the truck above is to carry my returns for The Letters this week - all 284 copies of them. They're from the same bookseller as last week, and they ordered more than 1000 to start with, so it's not the end of the world, and to be expected really. I did sell 21, so I'm happy with that! And The Blue Handbag has just been accepted by another big bookseller on promotion, so as my publisher said 'easy come easy go'. Goodbye, 284 copies of The Letters. I hope you get made into compost and go back into the ground.

Finally finally, there's a new interview up at 100 Readers - my friend Nicola. Have lovely Mondays x

Well done on the copies of The Letters that didn't get returned. And also well done on the news re The Blue Handbag promotion; sorry I didn't enter the competition to win a copy, but I had a copy already (unsigned, of course), so I decided to give other people an opportunity. I shall, of course, go to your book signing whenever it is.

It's in the post today, Suzana!

RB - very magmanimous (did I spell that right?)

Pierre - thank you - I'll let you know if I do a signing for TBH - the last one was great fun.
