You last heard about this book by Sage Cohen when she visited Planting Words as a part of her blog tour.At the time I hadn't yet received my copy. It came in the post this week. It's BEAUTIFUL!
I hadn't realised how much colour there would be inside. I hadn't realised how packed full with wonderful poems it would be (Jane Kenyon, Ted Kooser, Sharon Olds, Mary Oliver, Pablo Neruda, Jane Hirschfield - so many of my favourites).
I did expect it to be beautifully written - and for it to be about so much more than how to write poetry. It talks about a way of living, which will also happen to result in better poems. An encouragement to slow down and engage more fully with the world around us.
If this book doesn't sell millions, then there really is no justice in the world... I'd heartily recommend it to complete beginner poets, and also those of us who've already been around the block.
Here it is on Amazon UK or Amazon US. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
PS Here's the blog to accompany the book - Sage's most recent entry is about embracing the uncomfortable.
PPS Chapter 26 is about small stones and is particularly good ; )

Ooo, drool. Adding it to my Must Get list.
Oh, I found this at my local bookstore- wonder of wonders, really- and I will be settling down for the weekend with it- I can't wait! Thanks, Fiona, for the interview with Sage!
Thanks so much, Fiona! I sure do appreciate your kind words!
Wow, this is the second place I've seen this books praises sung :) I think I might need to get it now. Another book to add to my Amazon shopping cart.
Buy it! buy it!
Sounds good. I think too many writing guides focus on the writing techniques rather than the living techniques. I don't think you can write well if you don't live 'well'.
